Rope Halters: The right equipment for the job. Best for the most effective communication with your horse.
These halters are hand-tied using quarter-inch diameter yacht braid line, which has been treated to be weather and sun-rot resistant. The halter adjusts easily to fit a variety of horses and has no metal hardware to rust or break, no stitching to break, no metal grommets to pull out or burned-in holes to fray.
The greatest advantage is its usefulness as a tool in teaching ground school. A horse is prone to pull against pressure with a flat, nylon or leather halter. But the thin rope of this halter is more easily felt when the handler applies pressure, which discourages the horse from pulling.
This rope halter has the form of an old-time hackamore with its bosal, headstall and fiadore which makes its useful as a hackamore when appropriate, in training beyond ground work.
Training Lead Ropes:
These lead ropes are made of five-eighth inch diameter yacht braid line that has been treated to be weather and sun rot resistant. They are twelve feet in length, which is optimal for teaching the concepts of ground school and respect to a horse. The tail of the rope is fitted with a leather "popper",and the horse end is fitted with a steel quick-link that will never come loose when twisted or pulled. John has tested a variety of links and has found the simplicity of this link to be its best asset, along with the lack of a swivel which can often be weak, bulky and not necessary.
These mecates are twenty-two feet long and are made of half-inch yacht braid line which has been treated to be weather and rot resistant. They are suited for use with both a bosal and with a snaffle bit along with the use of slobber leathers. The mecate creates a single roping or jumping type rein that is adjustable in length, while leaving a tail of rope for a lead line when dismounted.
CDs: Besides John Moore's career in the horse industry he also maintains a career in the music industry doing studio, television and movie work as well as live performances with a variety of other artists. He and his partners in bluegrass music make up the band Bluegrass Etc. These CDs are a representation of that band, and cuts from the CD entitled Classics make up the soundtrack for John's DVDs.
